Our Privacy Philosophy: "We do not want your data."
Our core principle for SumX is to provide a challenging math experience with as little data collection as possible. We have minimized data requirements to the absolute essentials needed for the app to function and remain free to play.
1. Data Storage and Usage
We distinguish between your personal progress and shared group play:
- Local Storage (On-Device): Your personal statistics, individual game scores, and age verification status are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.
- Firebase (Google): To facilitate group leaderboards and shared competitive play (such as "Today's Grid" rankings), we process:
- Device Identifiers: To link your scores to your device session.
- Nickname: Your chosen display name for group rankings.
- Group Interaction Data: Scores and activity shared within your groups.
- Google AdMob (Advertising): To keep SumX free, we display advertisements.
- Adults (16+): If you provide consent via the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, Google AdMob will use your Device Advertising Identifier to show you personalized ads.
- Minors (Under 16): Personalized advertising and tracking are strictly disabled. Ads served to minors are non-personalized and based purely on the context of the app.
2. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)
SumX is a family-friendly app. We take extra precautions to protect the privacy of younger players:
- Age Verification: Upon first use, SumX requires users to verify their age. This information is used solely to configure privacy-preserving settings and is stored locally on the device.
- Automatic Protections: For users identified as under 16:
- Personalized advertising tracking is automatically disabled.
- We transmit "Child-Directed" flags to our advertising partners (Google AdMob).
- External social sharing features are restricted to prevent the transmission of personal identifiers.
3. User Control & Data Deletion
You can manage or delete your data directly within the app by navigating to the "Statistics / My Data" page. From there, you can view local stats or request deletion of your data from our Firebase records.
Data Retention: Group scores and leaderboard data are stored on Firebase for as long as the group remains active. Local data remains on your device until the app is uninstalled or you clear the app cache.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Data is only shared with the service providers listed above (Google) for app functionality, monetization, and analytics necessary for app performance.
